WM-Lauf in Kegums (LV)

Wir sind bereits am Donnerstag von Zürich aus nach Lettland gereist. In Riga hatten wir eine gute Zeit gehabt und unter anderem mit den E-Scooter die Stadt besichtigt. Aus den beiden letzten WM-Läufen hatte ich einige Schlüsse gezogen, mein Speed war auf jeden Fall gut gewesen. Ich war also wie auch das Team voll motiviert und wollte in Kegums angreifen. Im Zeittraining konnte ich schon mal auf Platz 15 fahren und im folgenden Qualifikationsrennen war ich trotz bescheidenem Start mit dem Ergebnis Rang 16 im Ziel voll im Plan. Mein Fahrwerk, das ganze Motorrad war am Samstag wirklich top.

Am Sonntagmorgen hatte ich im Warmup richtig Spass beim Fahren, mit Platz 11 war ich schon mal knapp dran an meinem grossen Ziel Top 10. Aber Finale ist natürlich eine andere Sache und dazu fing es noch vor dem ersten MXGP-Finallauf heftig an zu regnen. Die Strecke änderte sich blitzartig und es wurde richtig schwierig. Ich kam aber sehr gut aus dem Gatter, und reihte mich in den Top 20 ein. Die Rundenzeiten und mein Rhythmus waren top, aber nach etwa einer Viertelstunde Rennzeit musste ich auf Platz 15 liegend mit defektem Motorrad aufgeben. Ich war erst ziemlich niedergeschlagen, aber nach einer Weile kam der Wille und die Motivation zurück. Wieder war meine Reaktion am Start super, ich musste zwar in Runde 2 kurz zu Boden, fand aber dann die richtigen Spuren. Meine Rundenzeiten waren wirklich schnell und ich fuhr bis zum Ziel noch bis auf Platz 13 vor. Das war bisher mein bestes Laufergebnis und daran möchte ich unbedingt am kommenden Wochenende in Maggiora, Italien anknüpfen.

World Championship in Kegums (LV)

We travelled to Latvia from Zurich on Thursday. We had had a good time in Riga, including a tour of the city on the e-scooters. I had drawn some conclusions from the last two World Championship races and my speed had definitely been good. So I was fully motivated, as was the team, and wanted to attack in Kegums. I was able to finish 15th in qualifying and in the following qualifying race, despite a modest start, I was right on target with a 16th place finish. My chassis and the whole bike were really top on Saturday.

I really enjoyed riding in the warm-up on Sunday morning and with 11th place I was close to my big goal of a top 10, but the final is of course a different matter and it started to rain heavily before the first MXGP final round. The track changed in a flash and it became really difficult. However, I came out of the gate very well and finished in the top 20. The lap times and my rhythm were great, but after about a quarter of an hour of racing I had to retire in 15th place with a broken bike. I was pretty down at first, but after a while my will and motivation came back. My reaction at the start was great again, although I had to go down briefly on lap 2, but then I found the right tracks. My lap times were really fast and I made it to the finish in 13th place. That was my best race result so far and I really want to build on that next weekend in Maggiora, Italy.

Championnat du monde à Kegums (LV)

Nous nous sommes rendus en Lettonie depuis Zurich le jeudi. Nous avons passé un bon moment à Riga en visitant la ville sur les trottinettes électriques. J'avais tiré quelques conclusions des deux dernières courses du championnat du monde et ma vitesse était vraiment bonne. J'étais donc pleinement motivé, tout comme l'équipe, et j'étais prêt à débuter le weekend. J'ai pu terminer 15e en qualification et lors de la course de qualification suivante, malgré un départ modeste, j'étais dans le coup avec une 16e place. Mon châssis et l'ensemble de la moto étaient vraiment au top samedi.
J'ai vraiment apprécié le warm-up du dimanche matin et avec une 11ème place, j'étais proche de mon objectif d'un top 10, mais la finale est bien sûr une autre affaire. Il a commencé à pleuvoir abondamment avant la première manche. La piste a changé en un clin d'œil et est devenue très difficile. Les temps au tour et mon rythme étaient excellents, mais après environ un quart d'heure de course, j'ai dû abandonner à la 15e place avec une moto cassée. J'étais plutôt déçu au début, mais après un certain temps, j'ai retrouvé ma volonté et ma motivation. Ma réaction au départ a de nouveau été excellente, même si j'ai dû chuter brièvement au deuxième tour, mais j'ai ensuite trouvé les bonnes traces. Mes temps au tour étaient très rapides et j'ai terminé à la 13e place. C'est mon meilleur résultat en course jusqu'à présent et j'ai vraiment envie de continuer sur cette lancée le week-end prochain à Maggiora, en Italie.
